RUNDOWN NEWS 20 march 2014 totallyoptical.com Transitions Optical, Inc. moved back to the Disney World Resort this year to host its 18th annual Transitions Academy. The theme of this year's event was "Experience It" and the new lens, Transitions ® Signature ™ VII, took center stage. All the educational sessions were aimed at showing how much the technology has improved since Transitions VI came out seven years ago. Transitions Signature lenses are fully clear indoors and are more responsive outdoors, according to the company, thanks to an exclusive photochromic technology called Chromea7 ™ . The Academy opened with a cocktail reception at the Contemporary hotel on Sunday evening, January 26. After Brian Hauser, general manager of the U.S. and Canada, and Jose Alves, general manager, Latin America, opened the proceedings with some help from the hilarious Master of Ceremonies, Myopia Snellen, all the popular Disney characters appeared so the 1,200 attendees could take photos with them. There were Gallup sessions the next morning followed by hands-on experiments, games, and activities to bring to life the technology of Transitions Signature lenses. The following morning, Sherianne James, director of North America marketing, spoke about how Transitions is going to partner with Disney resorts to promote its family of products. Transitions is also offering stick-on decals to its eyecare professional (ECP) customers. These will allow an ECP to attach a decal to their patients' lenses and then have them go outside to see how it All the Disney characters came together in one room for a meet and greet with Transitions' attendees.
