RUNDOWN NEW FOR THE LAB 20 january 2015 opticallabproducts.com JOB TRAYS GET CLEANER WITH OPTISOURCE OptiSource International has developed a solution that removes caked-on polish off job trays and brings them to like-new condition. Until now, dirty surfacing job trays could repeatedly scratch lenses and cause remakes to become both time-consuming and costly. To eliminate the problem, labs have chosen to invest in large industrial cleaning equipment, use plastic tray inserts, or throw away the dirty job trays. Optisource's new solution can clean dried polish slurry off job trays and in the process save labs money. "Our Job Tray Cleaner will remove dried polish from any standard job tray used in the industry and will also work on any other polish-laden surface," says Josh Yenis, OptiSource's sourcing manager. The easy-to- use liquid solution is a cleaning compound that is drain-safe. It comes in a 1-qt.-sized squeeze bottle. A lab technician squeezes the cleaner onto the job tray, spreads it out with a sponge, and rinses it off. "We've engineered this solution to instantly remove polish by using a simple spread-on wipe- off process," Yenis explains. "The tray will no longer be rough so lenses won't get scratched. It's a must-have product for anyone surfacing lenses," he adds. For more information, contact OptiSource at 800-678-4768 or 1-800-optisource.com. THINNER SUNGLASS LENSES East Syracuse, NY- based US Optical has expanded its propri- etary lens technology with two additional sunglass free-form lenses: Thin Wrap HD ™ progressive and Thin Single Vision Wrap HD ™ . "We can now make the 6.00D- and 8.00D-base sunglass wraps 40% thinner," says Ronald Cotran, co-owner and vice president. "Whether it's a +4.00D or a -6.00D, our new Thin Lens series of lenses are 40% thinner than any other sunglass technology." While higher minus Rx lenses have a thick edge and high plus lenses have a thicker center and nasal area, the new US Optical lenses and tech- nology can ft any sunglass frame with substantially thinner results. QUIET AND QUICK JOB TRAY TRANSPORT NCC Automated Systems, Inc.'s Tray Express is a plug-and-play conveyor system where job trays are automatically routed to the next available station and processed job trays are then discharged on a separate track. Tray Express aims to satisfy two types of lab customers: The customer who needs to automate to bring conveyors to and from machinery, basically connect- ing the entire process and upgrading, and those labs that have automated over the last 10 years going with a fexible chain style of conveyor that accumulates the pallets at stops and the belt continues to run. The pallet to plastic belt contact causes a loud noise. The Tray Express System relieves this noise by using a smooth belt conveyor at the accumulation points and fexible chain at the curves. NOW A DRIVING LENS IN TRIVEX Transitions ® Drivewear ® lenses are available in single vision Trilogy ® Trivex ® material. As a result, drivers can now experience Transitions photochromic technology and NuPolar ® polarization with the impact resistance of Trilogy in one driving lens. "The industry has been pa- tiently awaiting an extension of the best driving lens available, and we are excited to announce it is fnally here," says David Rips, president and CEO of Younger Optics, which manufactures Transitions Drivewear lenses. BLUTECH LENSES' NETWORK GROWS Eye Solutions Technologies, LLC, now sells its BluTech ® lenses through a network of 100 optical laborato- ries and 15,000 ECPs and is look- ing to add several more partner labs. Its model is similiar to the one used by Transitions Optical, Inc. It provides the lens material for manufacturers to create their own designs. BluTech is currently available in lens designs from four manufacturers, HOYA Vision Care, North America, Shamir Insight, Inc., Signet Armorlite, Inc., and VSP Optics Group. Not a coating, BluTech Lenses are the only lenses infused with Ocular Lens Pigment, a natural pigment that occurs in the eye as it ages, to help flter harmful high-energy blue light emitted from most electronic devices while allowing innocuous light to pass through. Partner labs agree to a minimum purchase, share sales data on a month- ly basis, and enable travel with lab representatives and Eye Solutions Technologies' regional sales managers. In return, the company provides promotional materials, training for partner lab representatives, training for key accounts, and partnership in pulling through programs and tools.
