RUNDOWN NEW FOR THE LAB VEDALOHD INTRODUCES PROPRIETARY LENSES VedaloHD® Performance Eyewear has introduced its proprietary SolarMax™ lenses which enhance visual clarity, color separation, and improved spatial contrast. Lightweight and impact resistant, "this is lens technology that recali- brates the color spectrum to see color contrast and improve color recognition," said Dan Jacobs, founder and CEO of VedaloHD. "SolarMax improves visual performance and protection," he added. Traditional sun lenses restrict color but through the use of a proprietary filter, SolarMax lenses do not. These lenses also completely block UVA/ UVB sun rays and are available in gray and copper-rose colors in three versions: superior fixed tint, photochromatic, and polarized. For more information, contact VedaloHD® 800-790-4120 ext. 3018 or vedaloHD.com. Performance Eyewear at Variable Base Curve Profile PLxpression Semi Finished Blank PLxpression Rx Design Component Position-of-wear individualization (frame wrap, back-vertex distance, pantoscopic tilt) VSP EXPANDS ITS PORTFOLIO VSP Optics Group has introduced a new, advanced digital progressive lens: the UNITY PLxpression with Cascade Technology™ able nationally on October 10. . This lens became avail- "This is pretty smoking hot technology," said Don Oakley, president of VSP. "It's the highest category—an 'N' class progressive lens which is made for your eyes only." The precursors to this lens were UNITY PLXtra and PLX. Now, the UNITY PLxpression with Cascade Technology takes digital progressive lenses to a whole new level of customization. The wearer can experience optimized viewing zones through variable base curve technology, flatter lenses, and advanced position-of-wear customization. In other VSP news, VSP will introduce a new app called otto™ that will TWO NEW DEFINITY LENSES FROM ESSILOR Essilor of America, Inc. has added the DEFINITY® 3 and DEFINITY 3 Plus to its family of progressive lenses with DualOptix digital surfacing technology. DEFINITY was the first progressive lens to use DualOptix and DUAL ADD technology, splitting the addition between the front and back of the lens. Now with the DEFINITY 3, a dynamic split is used, allowing for the add power to no longer be fixed. This creates more opportunities for customization as the split is optimized to the patient's prescription and choice of frame. The DEFINITY 3 Plus, which features all the same benefits of the DEFINITY 3, will also use three additional measurements—panto, wrap, and vertex. "DEFINITY 3 and DEFINITY 3 Plus not only offer limitless personaliza- tion opportunities for patients, but also outperform other progressives in the marketplace in all visual zones," said Carl Bracy, senior vice president of marketing and new business at Essilor. The design of the DEFINITY 3 means it can outperform its competitors' lenses with nearly a full diopter less unwanted astigmatism at higher add powers. Additionally, DEFINITY 3 outperforms its predecessor, the current DEFINITY design, in all visual zones. (PSI) has introduced Sure-Lock Hydro- phobic Gripping Discs which are made of a unique material to aid in edging lenses, including those with hydrophobic coatings. Sure-Lock is a clear oval disc that is placed directly on the lens. The blocking pad is placed on top of the disc. Sure-Lock's adhesive provides a strong bond with the lens and a stable base for the blocking pad to adhere to without torquing. They are easily removed with the finger-lift tab provided. Sure-Lock can also be used on the backside of the lens to protect the lens from the edger chuck. The transparent nature of the disc makes it easy to see layout markings under- neath. Sure-Lock Hydrophobic Gripping Discs come in a roll of 1,000, 26mm by 40mm, Model No. SL2640. For more information, contact PSI at 800-790-4120 ext. 3016 or LookToPSI.com. totallyoptical.com
