He became a production manager with Luxottica Optical Manufacturing where he built his skills in the AR coating and digital surfacing departments. He holds a B.S. in engineering management from the United States Military Academy at West Point. After earning his MBA from Ohio State University in 2012, he joined VSPOne Optical Technology Centers and took on the responsi- bility of lab director of the Colum- bus, OH, and St. Cloud, MN, labs. In this role, Brad is responsible for over 325 operations and customer service employees, as well as P&L; management, safety, production, quality, and service. ANGELA HARAR, Senior Director of Trade Shows, The Vision Council, age 38. Angela is responsible for the strategic direction, marketing, and public relations of the biannual International Vision Expo & Conferences. Before joining The Vision Council in 2004, Angela held various marketing positions at Chesapeake Bay Candle Company and CorporateGifts.com. She began her career in New York City as an Assistant Buyer at Bloomingdales. Angela holds a B.S. in Marketing from Drexel University in Philadel- phia, PA. She's a member of the education committee of the newly formed council of Major American Trade Show Organizers (MATSO). She is a graduate of the Krakoff Leadership Institute and has her Certifed Exhibitions Manager certifcation. BILL HEFFNER, IV, Marketing and IT Director, FEA Industries, Inc., age 30. Bill is a fourth-genera- tion lab executive who has followed in the footsteps of his father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He went to work full-time for his father at FEA Industries, a family- owned lab in Morton, PA, six years ago and is in charge of IT, sales, and marketing. He has a master's degree in software engineering and has helped FEA automate its ordering process to receive 90% of its orders online. KEVIN HUNDERT, CEO of MADE Eyewear and manager of new business development at REM Eyewear, age 27. Kevin is a third-generation eyewear entrepreneur following in the footsteps of his grandfather, Gerry Hundert, and father, Mike Hundert. Kevin started his eyewear career working at REM Eyewear, the family business, until he founded MADE Eyewear in 2013. MADE is an online retailer that offers consumers custom eyewear and a unique home try-on program with prescription lenses. JOHN KEANE, software consul- tant, DVI (Digital Vision, Inc.), age 35. John and his sister, Merril, attended Portland Public schools in Oregon while their parents, Gordon and Katherine, worked to grow DVI from a side room at their home into a success- ful business. John graduated from Yale College in 2002, and returned to Portland to coach rowing and brew beer for a local microbrewery. He still helped out part-time at the DVI offce and published their newsletters. John offcially started working at DVI in 2008 while attending law school at Lewis and Clark. CANDICE KEATING, Director of Marketing, Shamir Insight Inc., age 33. Candice joined Shamir in May 2006 as Market- ing Coordinator. Over the past nine years she has held various posi- tions, including her current role as Director of Marketing. "With all marketing developed in-house, I have had such amazing opportuni- ties to marry my creative side with my ever expanding knowledge of optics," she says. "I feel very fortunate to be able to learn and build strong relation- ships not only with the team at Shamir in the U.S., but also with our counterparts at our headquar- ters in Israel." She says what makes her job exciting is to work for a forward-thinking company like Shamir, which develops unique visual solutions to enhance the patient experience. Candice graduated from San Diego State University with a B.A. in Com- munications and is a member of the Optical Women's Association. BEN KRIEGER, Vice President, ECP Services, Diversifed Ophthalmics, age 40. Ben spear- heads the ECP Network, a 1,000+ member practice Group Purchasing Organi- zation, and he is a Diversifed Ophthalmics shareholder. He says his top three business priorities are: to partner with the fnest people possible; to plan for industry evolutions; and to implement disciplined processes. "The optometric profession is poised for accelerated change, creating large opportunities for those who are prepared," he asserts. Ben's pre-ophthalmic experience includes leading strategic planning, fnancial planning and analysis, and market- ing in private equity and retail. He graduated with a B.S. in business and M.S. in fnance from Texas A&M.; DUSTIN LAVALLEY, Controller, Walman, age 34.
