Before joining Walman in 2013, he had spent seven years working on Walman's account as an auditor. He recently led the imple- mentation of a business intelligence tool and an upgrade to the company's accounts payable process by adding more automation to the workfow. JASON MANSUY, President, Vision Craft, an Essilor Partner Laboratory, age 37. Jason's father, Jerry, founded Vision Craft optical laboratory in 1974 and was president until he retired in 2013 and Jason took over. Jason received his B.S. in Mechani- cal Engineering from the Univer- sity of Michigan in 2000 and decided to come back into the family business to "help out" in customer service. He quickly found that he loved solving customers' problems and developing relation- ships and so he decided to stay permanently. He took on more responsibility as Customer Service Manager and then Vice President of Operations. Jason helped the lab grow from about 250 jobs a day to 1,000. Vision Craft became an Essilor partner lab in 2005 and shortly after Jason went back to school. He earned his MBA from Walsh College of Accountancy and Business Administration in 2011. He was given the Opticians Association of Michigan's Distin- guished Service Award in 2006, an award his father won in 1979. SAMANTHA MORROW, Marketing Manager, Nikon Optical USA, age 29. Samantha joined the Nikon team seven years ago. Since then, she has had many responsibilities ranging from sales and fnancial reporting before assuming her current role dedicated to sales and marketing. Samantha graduated from Eastern Connecticut State University with a B.A. in Business Administration and Communica- tions. "What I enjoy most about Nikon, aside from the fantastic team, is the fast-paced atmosphere where each day presents something new—be it a challenge or an opportunity to learn, build, and grow," Samantha states. TYLER MORTON, Director of Operations, Central One Optical, an Essilor Partner Laboratory, age 30. Tyler started his career with Central One Optical in 2009. He graduated from Youngstown State University in 2007 with a B.A. in Communica- tions and Marketing. At Central One, Tyler has quickly adapted Essilor's ideas, installed a digital surfacing line, and upgraded the fnish department. As director of operations, he has co-ordinated a large lab expansion between Optical One (partner lab) and Central Optical that involved adding another digital production line and re-engineering job fow by using LEAN manufacturing techniques to optimize the lab's output. NICHOLAS NYP, Chief Financial Offcer, Nikon Optical USA, age 31. Nick began his career at Nikon in Novem- ber 2010. He has 10 years of fnance and accounting experience. Before joining Nikon, he worked as an Auditor at Wendling Noe Nelson and Johnson. Nick also spent several years as a Financial Analyst at HPC Puckett, a frm specializing in mergers and acquisitions within the global optical community. He is a Certifed Public Accountant (CPA) and a Chartered Global Manage- ment Accountant (CGMA). "At Nikon, I enjoy the fast-paced environment, working with a great team, and the challenges that come with growing a business in a dynamic and competitive market," he says. HEATHER PADGETT, National Project Marketing Manager, HOYA Optical Labs, age 31. Heather's 10 years in the optical industry have all been with HOYA. She has held several different positions within the company including new accounts, sales support, and inventory. "The optical industry excites me," she says, "because it's ever evolving and has grown so much since I have been in it. I can't wait to see where we go next." She adds that she's been fortunate to have worked with several people at HOYA who have been in the industry for some time. "They have not only helped me shape my position at HOYA with the knowledge that I've learned from them but have helped me become the person I am today." DANNY PAYNE, Director of Operations, Icarelabs, age 30. Danny grew up in the family business and offcially started working part-time at Icarelabs in 2003. After graduat- ing from the University of Florida in 2008 with a B.S. in Industrial and Systems Engineering, he began full-time with Icarelabs as a Project Engineer. He started the AR coating lab, installed a digital surfacing line, and upgraded the fnish department. He recently com- pleted his MBA at Auburn Univer- sity. He is now coordinating a large lab expansion that involves adding another digital production line and re-engineering job fow with new conveyors to optimize the lab's effciency and output. JAMES S. PAYNE, Director of Technology, Icarelabs, age 32. James started working in the family business, Icarelabs, in 1997.
